The regeneration of the Ringcross Estate commenced in February 2006. We worked in the Partnership with Hyde Northside and FFT Partnership through the pre-ballot stages. This included providing a manned show flat, community events and various design / resident consultations. The successful Stock Transfer from London Borough of Islington to Hyde Northside was achieved in November 2005.

The works comprised of:

  • Internal refurbishment of 174 tenanted properties to achieve the Housing Corporation's Decent Home Standards which include the provision of new kitchens and bathrooms and upgrading the internal mechanical and electrical services.
  • Environmental refurbishment/regeneration comprising of new roof/walkway coverings, window replacements, estate security with CCTV and door entry, entrance enhancements, lift replacements, concrete and brickwork repairs, overhaul of estate lighting and drainage, full hard and soft landscaping designs, playground and recreational areas.

The above works were designed and approved with the client and residents through consultation and carried out with the residents in occupation. Health and Safety / communications are key and the site team, including full time Resident Liaison Officers, worked with the client providing bulletins, newsletters, posters and regular meetings with the Tenants Association. Trade Apprenticeships have been set up with local labour from the estate and Prospex Youth Group have been trained and employed to carry out external decorations. The Youth Group were involved in the construction of the new youth centre which generated a sense of ownership to the new facilities. The scheme commenced in February 2006 and was completed in April 2008.
