The Greenwich Local Labour and Business (GLLaB) acts as a local construction jobcentre, with a directory of local people which can be referenced to recruit local skills. The initiative goes beyond matching the job with a candidate, by providing additional training for the employee to increase his or her skill base during the course of their employment, making them a greater asset to the industry. As a minimum all candidates start employment with a CSCS card. We have used this initiative on a number of occasions at St Paul's Academy both directly and through our subcontractors.
