Case Study:
 A creatively managed site environment leading
 to a more sustainable development

Environment - New Build, Moorbridge Road, Maidenhead

As part of the construction of 74 flats at Moorbridge Road, the construction team have employed a management system which has brought many benefits to the performance of the scheme.

The team are running a ‘Permit to Work' system which involves the site management team to issue subcontractors with card ‘permits' before undertaking their work. This system creates a working environment in which subcontractors tend not to overlap, with one subcontractor undertaking their work before other works begin and therefore ensuring the highest quality work and superior quality management. This system has seen benefits to many aspects of the project including;

  • The improvement to site tidiness and presentation
  • Fewer labourers required, reducing costs
  • Waste management
    - More efficient and effective use of materials, less waste, fewer defects
    - Fewer skips required on site at one time
  • Quality
    - Fewer defects, assured quality works in many cases
  • Noise and dust
    - More effective control of dust and noise
  • Health and safety
    - Easier to manager and control health and safety issues
