Positive engagement with the local communities in which we work is always a high priority.

We are aware of the potential concerns and often real inconvenience construction sites present to communities and their residents. Our consultation process is extensive and we seek to engage and involve local communities and their representatives from the earliest stages of our involvement.

Additionally, as a matter of policy, we seek to give something back to the communities which we may be inconveniencing as a gesture of our goodwill. These range from providing open space or recreational facilities to giving assistance to local schools.

Some of our most successful programmes have been those in which we have worked closely with a community group or establishment to provide opportunities for young people to understand more about our industry, to experience it at first hand and, thereby to develop a potential interest in joining the industry.

Rydon has its own team of resident liaison officers (RLOs) whose specific responsibility is to ensure and protect the wellbeing of residents, particularly on the refurbishment sites in which we are working whilst residents remain in their homes. Our RLOs frequently develop programmes to help involve the community in what we are doing, and particularly in engaging young people and children through creative community programmes.

Rydon Construction is an Associate Member of the Considerate Contractors Scheme, one of currently only 25 contractors in the Country to have achieved this status.

Rydon Maintenance has foundation status with the Considerate Contractors' Scheme's new its new Company Registration initiative, which will allow construction companies and not just their sites, to sign up to the national Scheme. This scheme enables companies with shorter term site activities, such as those in the maintenance business to register and use the accreditation of the Considerate Contractors' Scheme. As a founder member of this new initiative Rydon is registered company number 00001!
