The Pressures On

The Blood Pressure Association is the UK charity dedicated to lowering the nation's blood pressure. The vision of this Association is that everyone will know their blood pressure numbers, in the same way that they know their height or weight, and take steps to keep them healthy both now and in the future.

At Mead house, regular Blood Pressure stations have been set up, allowing staff to get their blood pressure and heart rate checked, practically, at the comfort of their desk! The great news is that over 95% of staff have lowered their blood pressure since their first reading!

"Working five days a week doesn't give me much time to go and have my blood pressure taken, so when I knew I could have it done at work I jumped at the chance! Useful information was available on how to lower my numbers, and as a result, I have! I think this shows a fantastic level of care to staff, and is definitely a worthwhile exercise."
Nikki Donnelly, Resident Liaison Manager, Rydon Maintenance.

The benefits of Pressure Stations are:

  • Raising awareness
  • Encourage those who wouldn't usually have time, or want to visit the doctor's, for a blood pressure check
  • Educate staff about important health issues
  • Demonstrate a level of care to Rydon staff

Running or hosting a ‘Pressure Station' supports the national health campaign, ‘Know your Numbers!' - so make sure you know yours!

"Its as important as knowing your height and weight"
