Rydon has successfully completed work at St. Paul's Academy, the £20 million specialist 10,000m2 sports college in Greenwich for 1200 pupils.
The school is a specialist sports college and enterprise which will provide generations of students with a sports hall, a fitness suite, a running track, two grass sports pitches, a MUGA (Multi Use Games Area) court and an all weather pitch. It also incorporates a science faculty, multi-material rooms, a music faculty, a dance studio, a drama studio and ICT facilities.
The highly energy efficient structure, built to a BREEAM rating of Very Good, is cooled by an innovative natural ventilation strategy, providing free night-time cooling. Mechanical ventilation has been minimised wherever possible, with automated controls to allow night-time cooling and reduce CO² build up throughout the teaching times.
Our work at St Pauls has served as an excellent showcase of our ability to deliver modern educational facilities and was key to our selection on the PfS Academies Framework. In addition, the site was recently given a silver award by the Considerate Constructors' Scheme.
