The consortium led by the Ryhurst team, supported by Rydon Construction and Rydon Maintenance has been confirmed as Preferred Bidder on the "Age Well" PFI project to design, build and operate four specialist homes for older people in East Sussex.

‘Age Well', is a £39m PFI project (construction value, £22 million), with planning permission on sites in Hastings, Ringmer, Uckfield and Westfield. In partnership with East Sussex County Council, the consortium will design, construct and manage the buildings over the next 25 years. Work will begin next year, with all four sites ready to open between 2011-12.

The aim is to create centres of excellence with specialist residential services for older people who can no longer live on their own. This could include nursing care, so each home will take into account the changing needs of its residents. The design will promote social inclusion, contribute to the local communities and enhance the local environment.
