Work Completes on Phase Four of Pepys Estate

Published: January 2009

Since 2002, Rydon has been working as preferred contractor partner with Hyde Housing Association on the award winning Pepys Estate in Deptford. On the 11th December work was finished on Phase 4 and the keys to the final units were handed over.

Over the years Rydon has built some 286 houses and flats, both of rented and shared ownership tenure, using many varied construction techniques. These include traditional build, concrete frame and timberframe to 7 stories.

All phases gained EcoHomes accreditation to either "Good" or "Very Good", and Secure by Design Certification was awarded to each phase individually, as well as to the whole scheme.

Jeff Henton, the director at Rydon responsible for the whole scheme, said "We are very proud of the achievements made at the Pepys Estate; the works have brought a significant improvement to the lifestyles of many residents in the area. The success of the relationship between Rydon and Hyde has been reflected in the scheme having won Best Public Housing Development in the Brick Awards (2005), Finalist in the Design Awards (2006) and Bronze in the Considerate Constructors' Scheme (2007) as well as being named in the Future Fifteen schemes during the Housing Corporation's Design Week in 2007."
