Rydon Construction was selected to design and build an extension to the three storey science block providing a range of laboratory and teaching facilities for King's College School in Wimbledon.
The project involved the construction of a 676m2 extension and the refurbishments of an existing 298m2 to create a totally new and enhanced science facility which has benefited some 1,200 pupils from both the senior and junior sections of the school.
During the construction period, the main school remained fully operational throughout, with the works fitting around school schedules, therefore, great care and close liaison with the teaching staff was essential to ensure the minimum of disruption.
Additionally, the scheme included the installation of wind generators to contribute towards making the building very energy efficient.
Work commenced May 2007 and reached completion in December 2007.
