  • Description1

Rydon is currently working on the new Ongar War Memorial Medical Centre.

The new facility is constructed on the site of the 91 year old War Memorial Hospital, which was demolished in October 2010.

The scheme provides:

  • 2 GP Surgeries
  • Exam consulting rooms
  • Dentistry – including x-ray and 2 dental suites
  • Physiotherapy suite
  • Administration area on the top floor

The new building is an in-situ concrete RC Frame with rendered and curtain walled elevations. In order to achieve the required BREEAM Health Excellent rating, we have incorporated recycled bricks, a green roofing system and photovoltaic panels into the design.

A War Memorial Wall of Irish Blue Limestone, with a handcrafted inscription and artwork, has been included within the design and will be an important community feature at the new Medical Centre. We programmed this element to be completed before Remembrance Sunday 2011 to enable the local service to be held on site, as normal, and provided temporary facilities to further facilitate access.
