Rydon’s south west team held a Topping Out ceremony with Kingswood School on Friday 9th May for the exciting addition it is working on to the School campus, a state-of-the-art boys’ boarding house.

The traditional ceremony marked the structural completion of the new building, which will provide students with the highest quality accommodation and will open for the start of the new academic year in September. It was attended by representatives of those involved in this ambitious project and represents a significant investment in the campus as well as a continuation of Kingswood School’s rich architectural heritage.

Rydon's south west regional director Paul Barber said: "We are delighted to be associated with Kingswood School and topping out is a long-standing tradition in our industry and a milestone celebration on this superb new purpose-built facility.”

"The final phases of the building are now under way and we look forward to using our expertise in this sector to deliver a first-class, upgraded boarding house for the start of the new term later this year."

Simon Morris, Headmaster of Kingswood School, performed the ceremony at the top of the building together with Paul Barber, South West Regional Director from Rydon, George Batterham from Batterham Matthews Design (www.bmd-architects.com) and Mr Gavin Isle, co-Head of UK & Ireland and Head of South Region, Barclays Bank (investors).

Other attendees included the Senior Housemaster of the new boarding house, Mr Darrell Harding together with sixth form boarding students Orion Mathews and Prabhat Gurung, Governors, Mr Tim Westbrook and Mrs Katie Pillinger and Deputy Head, Mr Gordon Opie.
