The last phase of Packington’s regeneration is now underway following an event to mark the start of Phase 6 on site.
On Wednesday 22 March the Rydon project team were joined by joint partner The Hyde Group who watched the demolition machines begin to take down the last remaining blocks of flats. These were the only original part of Packington Estate left standing after the project has continued to deliver new homes and facilities for the local community.
Rydon has also entered into contract for Phases 5 & 6, which when complete will conclude the delivery of nearly 800 new homes for social rent and private sale, a range of new community facilities and public open space in Islington.
The last remaining flats were vacated at the end of 2016, a process which has been led throughout the project by Linda Padden and Rydon’s site team – successfully decanting 327 households including leaseholders and tenants, who each needed consultation regarding their new home allocation, assistance with updating their addresses and utilities, organising the removals and coordinating logistics on move day.
