June 2014
An important milestone has been reached in the regeneration of the Green Man Lane estate, as the new homes and facilities comprising Phase 1 have been officially handed over.
It represents the completion of the first full phase of the project in West Ealing, which provides 176 brand new homes including private, rented and shared ownership tenures in a mix of apartments and houses, from one bed through to five bed accommodation. Other facilities in this phase include a cafe, play area, new estate road and under croft parking.
All of the new homes are connected to the new Green Man Lane energy centre, a combined heat and power plant, providing residents with cheap, efficient warmth and electricity.
Phase 2B enabling works have already commenced with asbestos stripping, service diversions and disconnections. The demolition of vacant blocks is planned for the summer and construction work will start on 1st November. The first phase of the main road re-alignment is due to start shortly.
Rydon has been working in a joint venture with A2Dominion to deliver the regenerated Green Man Lane. The project involves the full demolition of the existing local authority housing estate, comprising 464 flats, and replacing them with 706 new homes.
In total, 305 of the new homes will be developed and marketed for open market sale in a joint venture between Rydon and A2Dominion. A further 338 homes will be for affordable rent and 63 shared ownership homes for A2Dominion New Homes.
This is a busy and exiting year for Rydon at Green Man Lane and our success to date demonstrates our ability to work in partnership on complex projects, juggling numerous construction challenges whilst ensuring our disruption to local residents and business is kept to a minimum.
