Rydon’s annual charity go-karting event at Buckmore Park was another success, raising £2,800 for housing and homelessness charity Shelter.
17 teams comprising staff, clients and partners were pitted together during an afternoon of racing. Near-perfect weather conditions enabled some seriously fast laps and bumper to bumper action.
The funds for Shelter were raised through the teams bidding for grid positions and purchasing raffle tickets. Guests also brought along some excellent raffle prizes too, including a Champagne afternoon tea at the Savoy, an Amazon Kindle, iPod Nano and a Scalextric racing car game.
Alice Isbel from Shelter joined the racers for the presentation and awards ceremony at the end of the event and accepted the cheque.
Results from the day were as follows:
First place: Jonathan Rowland’s team
Second place: Bob Bond’s team
Third place: Mark Unsworth’s team
Most spectacular crash: Mike Brown, who after a collision went through the barrier taking out several fence posts and then ending up in the neighbouring children’s circuit.
Road rage: Ben Finch
Most breakdowns: Mark Unsworth’s team
Most improved driver: Karen Jones (CgMs)
