A project to completely regenerate the Clapham Park estate has won an award in a national initiative to recognise, reward and promote the country’s greenest achievements.
The Green Apple Awards handed Rydon the accolade for its work on M2/M3 at Clapham Park, a two-phase construction of 113 new homes for Metropolitan on the estate with a landscaped courtyard, underground car parking as well as two commercial units.
The judges were particularly impressed by the waste management strategy, diverting up to 100% of waste away from landfill and reusing as much of the recycled demolition material as possible to reduce lorry movements in this densely populated area.
Rydon will be presented with its award at The National Self Build and Renovation Centre on June 24. During the ceremony it will also be announced if the project has been presented with the coveted Golden Award, representing the very highest honour in its category.
The awards are organised by The Green Organisation, an independent, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice.
Within Metropolitan’s Clapham Park regeneration will be 2,480 new build apartments and houses, 975 properties being refurbished, a primary care trust facility, new parks, educational facilities, commercial units and a community centre. Rydon has been involved in the new build of two developments.
