April 2015
Rydon was picked as a finalist in the 2015 Building Awards for the £155m regeneration of Green Man Lane in West Ealing, the nine year multi-phase project it is delivering with joint venture partner A2Dominion.
The scheme is replacing the original Green Man Lane estate, which was constructed in 1971 and had suffered decline in recent years. Many flats were over-occupied and residents reported concerns with security and isolation. The masterplan has been created by the architecture practice founded by Sir Terrance Conran, Conran and Partners.
This local authority housing estate, comprising 464 flats, is being demolished to make way for 706 new homes. The scheme will provide 305 homes that will be developed and marketed for private sale. A further 338 homes will be for affordable rent and there will also be a total of 63 shared ownership homes.
Phase 1 of the regeneration was completed and handed over in 2014. Phase 2 is now well underway. Plans for a new larger primary school, with places for 630 pupils, were also recently submitted.
The Building Awards, now in its 21st year, recognises the most successful and innovative companies and the best projects in design excellence.
The winners were announced at a ceremony at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Wednesday 22 April 2015.
