Rydon’s annual go-karting challenge at Buckmore Park has raised a considerable amount for charity over the years and 2015 was no exception as a cheque for £4,000 was handed to CRASH, the construction industry’s homelessness charity.

Held at the circuit where double World Champion Lewis Hamilton honed his skills as a youngster, Rydon’s guests comprised 18 teams of construction and property industry experts.

The teams raced for the glory of a podium finish while raising the vital funds through a combination of teams bidding for grid positions and raffle prizes.

Jenny Vaidya and Emma Brophy from CRASH joined the racers after the event and accepted the cheque from Rydon CEO Bob Bond.

Results from the day were as follows:

First place: Jeff Henton’s team
Second place: Mark Mitchener’s team
Third place: Ben Irvine’s team

Most spectacular crash: Matt Goodwin, Architecture Initiative
Best lady driver award: Rachel Maher, Savills
Fastest lap: Sean Jarvis, L&Q
Most breakdowns award: Joe Tatham’s team

CRASH is a practical charity addressing the issues of homelessness by harnessing the skills, products and goodwill of the construction and property industry to improve hostels, day centres, night shelters, training centres and move-on accommodation, for frontline homelessness agencies who work directly with homeless people.
