Live Train, which provides local people the opportunity to gain the skills and opportunities to secure work in our industry, has won the 2013 Construction News Specialists Award for Training Excellence.

Rydon Maintenance has been working with, supply chain partner SDP Solutions and sponsoring  the development  of  Live Train  since its launch in 2011. In this time Rydon has provided funding towards the 14-week intensive programmes, two of which have been held at the Ashmole Estate refurbishment project with Metropolitan in Lambeth.

The programme has ensured that Rydon  fulfils its local labour contractual obligations and  many of the  students are now in full-time employment .

The glittering award ceremony was held at the Park Lane Hilton in London, where over 600 of the country’s leading specialist contractors gathered to recognise the industry’s achievements.

Commenting on Live Train’s achievement, the judges said:

“The judges were particularly impressed by the passion and commitment of the team, as evidenced by their own personal financial investment, and more importantly, the lasting legacy within the community.”

For this year's awards making the win even more significant,  Construction News introduced face-to-face interviews  with industry experts  for those companies shortlisted.

Live Train’s success has been positive for everyone involved. Not only has it helped unemployed people back to into work, it has enabled Rydon to forge closer links with its clients and supply chain as we deliver regeneration programmes in the communities where we work.
