The redevelopment of the former Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Hackney Road, E2 has been Highly Commended at this year’s Evening Standard New Homes Awards.

Mettle&Poise is a collaboration agreement between Rydon and Family Mosaic that has brought back into use a decommissioned children's hospital and associated accommodation for nurses, which closed in 1996 and remained empty ever since. The site is located in close proximity to two conservation areas and it is directly adjacent to the London Borough of Hackney, as well as Hackney City Farm and several Grade II listed properties.

Rydon has created the new development of 188 new homes, 38% of which are affordable (43% by habitable room), for rent or for purchase through shared ownership. The remainder were available for private sale and successfully sold off plan.
