Following a successful programme this summer, Live Train is returning to the Ashmole Estate for a second time this year to deliver a training scheme to help unemployed people in the Lambeth area get back to work.

The programme will kick off with a trade taster day on 19th November for potential candidates from the estate and the surrounding area to try their hand at a number of construction trades. Each candidate will be interviewed, and if successful, will be offered a place onto the 14-week intensive course starting in December.

Rydon has been working on Metropolitan's Ashmole Estate on the first of a two phase scheme, upgrading 350 properties with new kitchens, bathrooms, double-glazed windows and providing a new district heating system. Externally, Rydon is overcladding the two tower blocks. Work will be delivered over the next five years and started on site in September 2011.

Live Train was created to provide local people with the skills and the opportunities to get work in construction and maintenance through SDP Solutions and partner Rydon, as well as its wider supply chain.
