A team of eight Rydon cyclists took to the road between Clapham Common in London and Madeira Drive on Brighton’s seafront to complete the 2016 London to Brighton Bike Ride.

This year we had two members joining us from our offices in Preston, accompanied by our support team Julian Hart in the Minibus and myself, Debbie Selden, in the van.

Meeting bright and early on Sunday 19th June at Rydon House in Forest Row, we loaded the remaining bikes and set off on time to pick Callum Wright up en route in East Grinstead, arriving at Clapham Common on schedule, with our final team member finding us in time for a team photo, customary pump up of the tyres before setting off together at just past 6.00am.

First to arrive and sending in the first text message from Brighton to confirm was John Noton at 11.00am, closely followed in no particular order by Callum Wright, Adam Harding, Andrew Scrace (of Brewers Decorator Centre), Jason North, Justin Fuller, Matt Beardsworth, Martyn Climpson and Simon MacDonald.

I am reliably informed that 50% of the team managed to cycle up the gruelling Ditchling Beacon, well done! They all crossed the finish line having enough time for light refreshment before meeting at the designated pick-up point, all riders reported that there were no holdups along the way.

Everyone said they had a really lovely day and are ready for the next Rydon cycling challenge – The Prince’s Trust Palace to Palace charity cycle ride in October. Hopefully we can persuade Matt and Martyn to travel down again to join us!

We have raised a considerable amount to be donated to the British Heart Foundation £1,140, including a £100 donation from Brewers Decorator Centre - Tunbridge Wells Branch.
