August 2016
Rydon and East Grinstead Town Football Club are celebrating a record-breaking 26th year of partnership into the new 2016-17 season.
Rydon first sponsored the ‘The Wasps’ club shirt in 1990 and has continually held the principal sponsorship slot ever since.
The result of this lengthy partnership is believed to be the longest running in non-league football, as this year the club enters its third season playing in the Ryman League.
Club chairman Richard Tramontin said: “Rydon has always been so much more than just a shirt sponsor, so it is great to celebrate another year of involvement with this successful company and its local workforce, many of whom live in East Grinstead, who have always been such good supporters of the local community.
“Without their support we wouldn’t have been able to make so many of the improvements to our grounds and facilities, which are now the envy of so many clubs at our level. I hope this relationship continues long into the future.”
Bob Bond, Chief Executive of Rydon Group added: “It is remarkable to think that when Rydon was first involved The Wasps were playing four levels down in the Sussex County League. To witness their journey over a quarter of a century whilst supporting local sport and culture is something we are very proud to be involved in.”
Last year The Wasps celebrated their 125th anniversary. During this time the club has played at three grounds within East Grinstead and competed in leagues as diverse as the Mid Sussex League to the Ryman League, while literally thousands of footballers have played for the club at all levels and age groups.
The new season starts on 13th August and all the fixtures have been released on www.egtfc.co.uk.
