Rydon Construction has commenced a strategic expansion in the south of England with the appointment of Colin Silvey as Regional Director for the Southern Region.

His appointment completes Rydon’s presence across the south between its long-established South East Region and its South West Region operating from Bristol.

Colin brings a career spanning over 35 years in the industry and joins Rydon from Galliford Try, where he held the position of Area Director.

He has also held senior management roles at Balfour Beatty, where he spent 15 years, and a further 10 years at Carillion, where he was also head of quality for the UK construction business.

The newly created position will see Colin focus on Rydon’s core areas of expertise, including housing, health and education, across the public and private sectors.

Commenting on his new role, Colin said:

“This is a tremendous opportunity to bring a brand renowned for the quality of its construction and development into a new region that complements its existing operations. I look forward to bringing my passion for the industry and a commitment for excellence to Rydon’s clients and partners.”

Mark Mitchener, Managing Director, Rydon Construction added:

“With his excellent track record and enthusiasm for the business, Colin is the ideal candidate to help us establish our operation in this new region. This is an exciting next step in the continued success story of the Rydon business, targeting growth where we are well placed to deliver developments in our sectors of expertise.”
