The South West Region of Rydon Construction, operating from its base in Bristol, has now reached an annual £50m turnover after the regional operation opened in 2008.
From a standing start the team, led by South West Regional Director Paul Barber, has developed a particular expertise in the Education, Commercial, Housing, Healthcare, Leisure and Defence sectors.
New orders have surged over the past 18 months, with a number of new projects secured and starting on site.
Most recently Rydon has completed the new Clifton Bridge Visitor Centre in Bristol. Created to mark the 150th anniversary of Brunel’s world-famous river crossing, the project was also announced as a winner in the 2015 West of England LABC awards.
Other projects recently secured and started include a £9.5m student accommodation development providing 169 bedrooms on James Street West, in the heart of Georgian Bath, as well as a £5.5m Performing Arts Centre featuring a new build auditorium for Bristol Grammar School, which will link into the School’s existing Elton Road Block.

Ebdon Court, Somerset: £9m development for Alliance Homes Group for a new Extra Care housing facility of 65 apartments in Weston-super-Mare.
Tisbury & Five Rivers Community Campuses, Wiltshire Council: £5.4m (Tisbury); £5.8m (Five Rivers) refurbishment and new build extension works to deliver ‘community campuses’ providing a range of services tailored to local needs of the local community, including community and clinical space, leisure facilities, catering facilities and youth services.
Cheltenham Ladies College, Gloucestershire: Refurbishment of boarding houses in Parabola Road to reconfigure the dormitory-style rooms.
Eastville Health Centre, Bristol: £3.2m project to create a new health centre bringing together two doctor’s practices under one roof.
Westerleigh Crematorium, South Gloucestershire: £2.5m project to deliver a new bereavement suite to an existing crematorium.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s School, Bristol: £2m scheme to build a new science and ceramics block at the heart of this historic and renowned independent school in Bristol.
Mangotsfield Primary School, Bristol: A two storey extension to the existing school providing a new hall and a seven classroom extension together with associated external works including a car park.
Marlborough College, Wiltshire: Refurbishment of a Grade II listed gymnasium into a modern and vibrant facility.
