Two Rydon developments have been shortlisted for prestigious national awards, celebrating the best residential development across the UK from the past year.
An expert panel of judges from The Inside Housing Development Awards has picked Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Packington Estate (Phase 4) to be included in the running for the title of Best Regeneration Project - recognising a regeneration scheme that has turned a place around and created more homes.
Rydon and Family Mosaic have brought back into life a decommissioned hospital site, which closed in 1996 and remained empty ever since, creating 188 new affordable and private sale homes. The site is located in close proximity to two conservation areas and it is directly adjacent to the London Borough of Hackney, as well as Hackney City Farm and several Grade II listed properties.
With the last phases of Packington now underway, the project will see nearly 800 new homes as well as community facilities and public open space delivered in a partnership with Hyde Group on a former council estate in Islington. Phase 4 delivered 162 new homes comprising 82 for private sale, 74 for social rent and six for shared ownership.
Finalists will be invited to present their work at an event in London on 23 November.
