Ronald McDonald House Bristol is an independent charity providing ‘home from home’ accommodation, free of charge, to the families of critically ill children receiving care at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children.
For several years now Rydon has provided a free repairs and maintenance service, using time pooled by members of staff to help fix a wide range of tasks, as well as taking on bigger projects to ensure the House always has a welcoming environment. Together these ensure the smooth and efficient running of the charity’s important work.
Several members of the healthcare maintenance team, who work at Rydon’s Blackberry Hill base in Bristol, visit the charity monthly to offer expert repairs and maintenance services.
As well as paying regular visits to Ronald McDonald House, they have encouraged a number of Rydon subcontractors to get involved by offering free or heavily discounted services.
Recent tasks the Rydon team has undertaken or organised for the charity include:
Furthermore, Rydon has set up a trade account for Ronald McDonald house with a local building materials wholesaler. This ensures the charity always receives the best rates on materials purchased for any building and maintenance work.
Denise Johnson-Carr, House Manager, at Ronald McDonald House Bristol said:
“I am so pleased with the partnership that has developed between us and I am still very much overwhelmed with the ‘Nothing is Too Much Trouble’ level of support that you extend to us week after week, year after year. We are very grateful for your continued help and support”
Rydon has also supported Ronald McDonald House by taking to the Bristol Docks for the annual Dragon Boat Race with the team raising several thousand pounds to date.
The House originally opened its doors in November 2002 and relies on funds raised mainly through public donations and fundraising events.
Ronald McDonald House Bristol is an independent Charity whose running costs are reliant upon the events that they organise, the generosity of businesses, families that have used the facilities and the general public.
