A new development of high-quality Extra Care housing in Sittingbourne has been awarded to Rydon by AmicusHorizon, which will provide older people and dependant adults flexible and independent living.
Wyllie Court will be built over three storeys, comprising a total of 51 one and two bedroom apartments. 36 will be available for local people under affordable rent with the remaining 15 available on a shared ownership basis.
Residents will benefit from communal facilities including a fully equipped kitchen providing meals, a hair dressing salon, activity rooms, WiFi, assisted bathrooms, a reception area as well as communal gardens and off-street parking.
Mark Mitchener, Managing Director, Rydon Construction commented:
“The traditionally-designed apartments in Wyllie Court will be fitted to a high specification, providing modern Extra Care facilities for its residents. We are pleased to be able to start on site and look forward to bringing our experience as a contractor based in the south east to this scheme.”
Neill Tickle, Regional Development Director (Counties) commented:
“I’m delighted we’re now in contract with Rydon on this exciting project. It’s taken two years to get to this point, but our joint vision for this land will now become a reality.”
Externally, Wyllie Court will feature a brick construction with balcony areas on the upper floors. Internally, all apartments are generously proportioned, have under floor heating and maximise natural light through large windows.
The project will be completed in summer 2014.
