April 2014
Inside Housing magazine has chosen two Rydon projects that rank amongst the UK’s best new affordable developments of the year.
The publication’s Top 50 UK affordable developments for 2014 contains the most inspiring, innovative and exciting housing schemes in the UK. The judging panel includes the CEO of the HCA, the vice president of the RTPI and the Inside Housing editorial team.
The Rydon projects chosen include:
William Cotton Place
A mixed-use development for Poplar HARCA on a brownfield site, situated in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. William Cotton Place comprises 34 affordable homes, 13 of which are for social rent and 21 for shared ownership. It incorporates space for a new medical centre and forms part of a wider regeneration programme in the area by Poplar HARCA.

Darbyshire Road, Newdigate
A development of 12 affordable homes targeted at people with work or family connections to the village of Newdigate in Surrey, where average house prices exceed £450,000. The scheme for Circle Housing Mole Valley was created on a piece of land acquired from a local farmer acquired at agricultural value with a ‘no hope’ value attached for residential development and incorporated many sustainable technologies into the build.
