Rydon sponsored one of 25 karts that took part in a charity soap box derby held at the MOD’s Tidworth Barracks in Wiltshire, where Rydon has recently completed JRSLA (junior ranks single living accommodation) refurbishments.

The fundraising event was held to support The Soldiers’ Charity, formerly the Army Benevolent Fund, which provides support to serving and retired soldiers and their families.

Rydon’s South West construction team handed a cheque for £250 to the Aspire Defence Capital Works (ADCW) team, who created their speedy-looking contraption from recycled materials including bikes and scrap pieces of timber.

The ADCW team were up against some of the MoD’s toughest competition including the Royal Horse Artillery, Engineers as well as the Barracks maintenance teams. The course took the participants along a challenging passage through a tank training route with the ADCW team performing well, but ultimately losing out on securing first place.
