Rydon starts work on new Sedgemoor crematorium

Rydon’s Bristol office has started work on a new crematorium near Bridgwater in Somerset.
The new £1.8m facility is being built for Westerleigh Group Ltd and will be finished in traditional natural stone walling with Ashlar detailing and coloured render sympathetic to the projects’ rural setting.
Architect Stride Treglown has also incorporated features including a natural slate roof and an exposed Glulam beam roof structure.
Special works will be required to raise the new structure above the existing flood plain with further external work to construct a floral tribute area, parking for 70 vehicles and a new access road to the A38.
The project will be completed in September 2013.

“We are pleased to be on site with this new crematorium, which has been designed with real consideration to help minimise its impact on its rural setting. Over the coming weeks, we expect to make good progress on the first stage of the project starting with challenging access works within the flood plain.
