A construction employment event led by L&Q and CITB ConstructionSkills initiative ‘Women In Construction’ is aiming to increase the number of women working in the industry.

Currently, only 11% of the workforce is female with just 2% of those in manual jobs.

The one-day event held will be held on 27th June at the Lambeth Accord in Brixton and will highlight training and career opportunities in the sector through a series of workshops and presentations.

Rydon is supporting the event through the Live Train initiative, which is recruiting a group of women looking to start a new career in construction to join its summer 2013 programme at Metropolitan’s Ashmole Estate.

During the Live Train programme, the group will spend up to 14 weeks learning key trade skills as well having the opportunity to help refurbish a void property on the Estate.
