Nus Ghani, MP for Wealden, officially unveiled the new show home on 26 April at Waters Reach, a development of new homes in Wadhurst by Rydon Homes.
After cutting the ribbon, Nus was given a preview of the show home ahead of its opening to the public on the 27th April. This is the second show home opened at Waters Reach following the successful sale of the first phase of housing.
She was also taken on a tour of the development comprising a range of 2 – 5 bedroom affordable and private sale homes.
Commenting on the new homes, Nus Ghani said: “These homes will make a wonderful addition to Wadhurst. With 12 of the homes going to local residents who qualify for affordable housing, as well as all being built with traditional methods, it is clear that these houses put the community at the heart of this new development.
“I was delighted to see electric charge points for cars, and the other ways in which this development is being made environmentally friendly. These houses are good for Wadhurst, good for the people who live there, and the environment we all love. I look forward to visiting again on their completion.”
Waters Reach comprises 35 high quality new homes, comprising a mix of accommodation and tenures from rented and shared ownership to open market sale housing of 2-5 bedrooms.
Each property features private gardens and parking, with the scheme opening onto a large area of dedicated green open space, featuring a children’s playground and offering views towards Bewl Water. All of the new homes have been individually designed to blend in with the local architecture and have been constructed using traditional materials.
Electric vehicle charging points to open market sale houses provide the infrastructure for home owners to switch to more environmentally friendly car usage.
Warwick Barnes, Managing Director of Rydon Homes, said: “We’re delighted to welcome our local MP to open the new show home at this new development for Wadhurst. As a local business it brings us great pride to bring forward this range of high quality new homes that not only responds to the housing needs of Wadhurst but also delivers a positive contribution to the local community.”
12 of the homes (34%) are dedicated for affordable rent or shared ownership and have been offered to families from the local community who qualify through local housing provider Golding Homes.
The other 23 homes are available for private sale. 13 have already been reserved, including several through the Help to Buy scheme and by people already living in the local area.
