Dennis Lenard is right to warn us of the challenges we face. In a recent tender consideration, five of the six contractors had overseas masters. Maybe it is already too late.

As a principle manufacturer of OSM solution in the bathroom sector, and UK based to boot, I absolutely agree with the article. However, I would comment that there are more and more enlightened contractors who would like to embrace the manufactured solution, but find themselves hindered by both planners and architects. OSM solution still only represents 4.2% of the construction industry, but believe me, it is accelerating as fast as traditional skill levels drop away. Watch this space.

RE: Dennis Lenard; Perspective Issue 1 article
Every month members of the construction industry retire after, in many cases, years of experience in various sectors. That experience could be used in a part-time way to reinforce companies staff levels, particularly at busy times or to cover holidays. The reality is that most construction staff are allowed to retire and then "forgotten".
In the petro-chemical industry the opposite is true. I know several retirees that regularly help out well past the age of 65. Age, after all, is a state of mind.
