Kirdford is not far from the small towns of Petworth and Billingshurst where a further choice of amenities can be found. Billingshurst has a good variety of independent shops, a farmers’ market, supermarket and banks, as well as the nearest station: trains to London take just over an hour.* Petworth, a medieval market town renowned for its antique shops, has some good restaurants, a golf club and imposing Petworth House.

Young children will probably go to the village schools such as Plaistow and Kirdford Primary School, Loxwood Primary School and Wisborough Green Primary School. All are within four miles. The nearest secondary schools are in Billingshurst and Pulborough, both about 5 miles away.
