Lymington Hospital wins major
design award

December 2007

Lymington Community Hospital, the largest single health facility developed by Ryhurst and Rydon under a PFI contract, has recently won the top award for hospital design in the primary and community care sector at the Cabe endorsed Building Better Healthcare Awards.

The design by Murphy Philipps Architects was described by the judges as an “exemplary workplace”, with staff playing a key role in both the briefing and design stages. Larger wards were broken down in to smaller 12-bed clusters, each arranged around a courtyard, to provide a more intimate recovery environment for patients.
