The Bexley Project

The Bexley Project

The first NHS project bundle to be signed was achieved by Ryhurst Ltd with Oxleas NHS Trust and Queen Mary's Sidcup NHS Trust on 11 December 1998. All facilities are fully operational.

The scheme provides community mental health services on six site locations. Facilities include:

  • Two Community Mental Health Resource Centres, one new building and one upgrade, refurbishment.
  • Two new build fourteen and fifteen bed Rehabilitation Homes.
  • A seventy one bed unit for Elderly and Acute Mental Health Services within extended, reconfigured and refurbished existing ward areas.
  • An eight bed Long Stay Home within refurbished accommodation.
  • The provision of a new acute unit at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup for the reprovision of specialist services for the physically disabled, new Day Surgery and Endoscopy facilities.

The development of these facilities has enabled the release of existing ward areas for reuse as elderly and acute mental health services.

As part of the Project Agreement, Ryhurst has taken operational risks in providing property management services for the whole of the Trust's property portfolio in Bexley of 30 existing facilities.

Parallel negotiations took place with the two NHS Trusts. This led eventually to two separate Project Agreements, both of which contained common contract terms.
The Capital Cost of the project is £16m.
