Rydon Construction won this important contract to deliver the R75 new single storey reception building and security gatehouse for the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) at Chilton, near Didcot in Oxfordshire.

RAL is one of Europe's largest multi-disciplinary research organisations, supporting scientists and engineers world-wide. It operates world-class, large-scale research facilities, provides strategic advice to the Government and manages international research projects in support of a broad cross-section of the UK research community.

The scheme comprised construction of a new single storey reception building and incorporated security gatehouse, together with associated perimeter security fencing, drainage works and the provision of a new access road (7.5m wide x 130m long).

This GC Works contract was successfully completed in October 2007.
