This scheme comprises of a new build extension to an existing 4 Star Grade II listed building along with refurbishment works within the existing hotel.
The new build works consisted of a 4 storey steel frame, with natural stone and natural render Cladding for 22 new bedrooms complete with en-suite facilities, along with conference and banqueting facilities. It also incorporates a plant room within the roof space and the provision for a spa and health centre within the basement area.
The refurbishment works consisted of converting the existing offices, stores and staff areas into new guest restroom facilities, and a new corridor / link from the main reception area to the new extension, along with forming new corridors from the existing upper floors into the new extension.
As the existing building is Grade II listed, Rydon were in close liaison with the Local Authority Conservation Officers and co-ordinated with them for materials and workmanship as well as authenticity.
During the build, the hotel remained fully operational throughout and the construction works were programmed around events such as weddings, garden parties and conferences with no detriment to the hotel.
The scheme commenced in October 2005 and was completed in January 2007
