The new Community Hospital is a PFI project for our Client, Ryhurst Limited and the End User, New Forest NHS Primary Care Trust.
The Hospital is constructed on a sensitive site in Lymington, adjacent to a SSSi and adjoining the River Lymington and incorporates significant works to overcome the possibility of flooding.
The Hospital is two and three storeys high, with a 12,000m² floor area, incorporating DTC, EAU and MIU areas, two operating theatres, two endoscopy suites, imaging suites and audiology suites. The Hospital has 99 bed spaces with a large proportion being single rooms, spread over rehabilitation, surgical, medical and birthing centre wards.
The building construction consists of:
- vibro stone foundations
- steel frame with in-situ composite concrete floors
- blockwork/metal stud external walls with render finish
- metal sheeting to the roof
- external management centre
- extensive external parking/landscaping works
The Hospital has a comprehensive mechanical and electrical service installations, consisting of comfort cooling, air conditioning to critical areas and medical gases.
The scheme was completed in November 2006.
