Contract Value: £6 million
Contract Period: 72 weeks
Architect: Frederick Gibberd Architects
Client: AmicusHorizon

Rydon has constructed a new development of high-quality Extra Care housing in Sittingbourne for AmicusHorizon, providing older people and dependant adults with flexible and independent living.

Wyllie Court has been created over three storeys, comprising a total of 51 one and two-bedroom apartments. 36 were made available for local people under affordable rent, with the remaining 15 on a shared ownership basis.

Residents benefit from communal facilities including a fully equipped kitchen providing meals, a hair dressing salon, activity rooms, WiFi, assisted bathrooms, a reception area, as well as communal gardens and off-street parking.

Externally, Wyllie Court features brick construction with balcony areas on the upper floors. Internally, all apartments are generously proportioned, have under-floor heating and maximise natural light through large windows.

Being a JCT design and build contract, Rydon worked closely with its team of design consultants to value engineer the project in order to create best value for AmicusHorizon, whilst still achieving 20% renewable and CfSH level 4.
