As part of a significant £50m project to transform and improve the former Park Wood estate in Maidstone, Rydon delivered a £9.3m contract to deliver Phase 3 of the Wallis Fields regeneration scheme in Maidstone, Kent, for housing association Golding Homes.
The development provides over 200 new homes, mainly family houses, as well as new community facilities including shops, and a much wider package of investment to improve the local area.
Rydon delivered a total of 56 quality new homes and commercial space within the third phase, comprising 18 houses, 38 flats and 2 retail units across market rent, affordable rent and shared ownership tenures and completing the transformation of the estate.
Rydon constructed these homes to a modern design, inspired by the local Kent architecture, drawing inspiration from the traditional housing of the region including cladding, weatherboarding and render with a mix of flat and pitched roofs.
The new Wallis Fields neighbourhood is a much safer and more attractive environment, a key feature of Phase 3 being the transfer of new shops & flats from an out dated shopping parade, creating a more pedestrian orientated environment, landscaped areas and improved public realm spaces.
