Rydon completed two boarding house refurbishments in Parabola Road in Cheltenham, for Cheltenham Ladies’ College.

The project comprised the complete strip out of the boarding houses, taking the buildings back to their shell.

The two blocks are linked by the Bayshill Building, which carries a Grade II listing, and Rydon also completed refurbishment elements within this building during the College’s close down periods.

The buildings have been re-configured to provide two and four bed dormitory-style rooms with refurbished bathroom facilities. The work comprised a full services installation, new partitions, flooring and new ceilings.

A new dining block extension has also been incorporated on the first phase of the works as well as two new access staircase towers at the end of each block.
The works were carried out in a sensitive manner as the adjacent boarding houses and school premises were being occupied throughout.

The project was also in a heavily populated area of Cheltenham with limited access around the area. Liaison with third parties and the public was paramount for the success of the project.
