Hydrotherapy Pool
Changing Facilities and WCs
Meeting Room and Reception Area
Storage Area

Rydon is proud to have been involved with the construction of this new facility, which is available to all pupils, many of whom have complex physical and learning disabilities, plus children and young adults with disabilities throughout the community.

Construction work involved demolition works, general site set up within a “Live” school environment, complex traffic management and external works.

The structure comprises a lightweight steel frame on reinforced concrete bases and ground beams with an RC swimming pool structure.

The external envelope is a blockwork cavity wall with brick construction and high level clerestory windows. The roof is of a shallow pitch single ply membrane on insulation. The pool has changing facilities on the ground floor including disabled access lifting facilities to transfer the disabled children from the changing rooms directly to the pool.

Below ground there is the main plant room containing all filtration, ventilation, heating and pumping equipment.

Lighting within the pool area is controlled from either the reception or pool hall itself. This features underwater lighting controlled by a scene set panel in the pool hall with a wall mounted controller keypad providing instant push button playback of up to eight light shows.
