Wiltshire County Council is working to deliver a series of Community Campuses that will provide a range of services tailored to local needs of the local community.

The services offered within a community campus depend on the requirements of the local area and can range from community and clinical space, leisure facilities, catering facilities and youth services alongside specialist services such as housing, revenues and benefits.

Rydon has successfully delivered two of the Community Campus developments awarded by Wiltshire County Council at both the Five Rivers Leisure Centre in Salisbury and the Tisbury Leisure Centre.

Five Rivers Community Campus

The existing Salisbury Five Rivers leisure centre is becoming a campus, with the project delivering a range of flexible facilities for the whole community to use. This will include those with disabilities, all age groups and the police and neighbourhood teams.

The new community campus will offer the following:

• Bookable meeting rooms
• Large multipurpose spaces that can be used for activities, meetings or exercise classes
• Services for disabled users
• Youth services
• Enhanced leisure facilities
• Hot desk space for Wiltshire Council officers
• Fire Service Operations Centre

Rydon carried out this new build and refurbishment contract over many phases, working in a live environment whilst other areas of the leisure centre, including the swimming pool, continue to remain open. As a result is was important for Rydon to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum throughout the build process.
